About Us - Council of Fire & Life Safety Professionals (CFLS)
About FireCouncil

Who We Are

The Council of Fire & Life Safety Professionals (CFLS) is a global advocacy platform dedicated to strengthening fire and life safety governance through structured collaboration between government authorities, industry leaders, technical experts, and regulatory bodies.

In an era of rapid urbanization, complex infrastructure, lithium battery risks, smart buildings, and high-rise developments, life safety must move beyond fragmented compliance toward integrated resilience.

CFLS was formed to bring alignment, uniformity, and leadership to fire and life safety frameworks across regions. Life safety is not a regional privilege. It is a universal obligation

Global code harmonization

Global code harmonization & Universal
Fire & life safety framework proposal

Strategic Vision

CFLS shall function as a Global Advocacy and Harmonization Platform to align Fire & Life Safety codes across nations. The objective is not to replace national codes, but to harmonize, bridge gaps, establish universal minimum baselines, and promote science-based, risk-based fire protection principles.

Need for Universal Alignment

Globally, multiple frameworks such as NBC (India), NFPA (USA), ICC Codes, EN Standards (Europe), BS Codes (UK), ISO standards, UL and FM certifications coexist. Variations in fire resistance classification, evacuation philosophy, testing protocols, and enforcement create compliance complexity for multinational developments.

Universal Fire & Life Safety Framework (UFLSF)

Level-1
Global Minimum Baseline

Core safety fundamentals including compartmentation, suppression systems, smoke control, egress, electrical risk, and battery safety.

Level-2
Harmonization Matrix

Cross-mapping between NBC, NFPA, IBC, EN, BS, and ISO frameworks to enable direct comparison and regulatory alignment.

Level-3
Performance-Based Design

Advanced methodologies incorporating hazard grading, resilience metrics, and engineering-driven fire safety strategies.
